Hard men!

Men of bronze in fact!
These life size statues in the market place in Whitehaven commemorate the Fisher lads of the 1960's
There is an explanation to go with the statues, written on slate set into the pavement around the black bollards to the right and behind them. It reads. "Men used to gather here to be hired for the fishing boats, and a good skill with knots counted for more than the number of scars on your face."
It would seem they were hard men indeed!
