Eilean Donan Castle

What a magnificent building in the most wonderful surroundings!!


The intention was as least to try to get a reasonable shot, hoping that the weather wasn't tipping it down. However we were thrilled waking on Easter Sunday morning to see a cloudless blue sky and it remained this way all the way from Skye and the rest of the day! We had to spend a couple of hours in a traffic jam and then detouring on a very dodgy single track road with few passing places and hundreds of other vehicles doing the same, due to a bad accident on the only main road out of Skye if not using the ferry route :-/


The castle is used in several films as it is so picturesque and is used for weddings at a very reasonable cost :-) so they say!


If ever in the area this castle is a MUST, not to be missed, it has such a lovely feel inside and I'm really not into historical buildings ;-) The displays set up in the kitchen were stunningly realistic, really!
