Living In The Love Of The Common People
After doing various things in Harrogate, MrsDroog and I stopped off at our Colombian friends' flat in Leeds for wine and a chat. By chance, Adriana's sister and her husband were passing through on their way back to Mexico; they don't get to see each other very much and I feared we might be intruding, but they are so friendly and welcoming that we soon lost any anxiety. I decided that a family portrait (albeit taken on a smartphone) was in order and this was the result.
Front and centre is Miller and Adriana's (they are on the right of the group) daughter, Juanita. She is a force of nature. The adults can claim four PhDs between them and a sackful of other qualifications besides; Juanita is six years old and just starting out on her journey of discovery. I wonder if she might not out-do all of them in time. Tomorrow she is going on a school trip to Harlow Carr RHS gardens and is outraged because she can't take her camera. Mind you, she liked the 'magic' (i.e. colour-changing) duck we gave her.
I just love the happiness and sense of familial security that radiates from these people.
May your families enjoy the same, Blippers.
