125th Anniversary

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the Banff Springs. It all began with the Canadian Pacific Railway trying to finish building the railway across Canada. They ran out of money, laid off some employees and these employees found the original hot springs, now the site of the Cave and Basin. They decided to turn it into a tourist destination and the building of the hotel began. They were able to make enough money from the hotel to finish the railway across Canada and now the funds from Banff National Park fund the rest of the National Parks across Canada.
