Cute Coot

Looking out at the garden this morning at about 0900 hours, we had Mallards, Moorhens and a family of Coots on the pond. The Coot family consisted of two adults together with five young. This picture shows one of the adults, together with three of the young on the pond. The weather is quite pleasant at present, but it is very wet underfoot near the pond and more rain is likely as the pressure is currently falling. Nevertheless, it was a very nice morning for taking pictures. Mrs GOG was encouraging the wildlife by throwing bird food down at the water’s edge and I took one or two pictures of her doing this, but she was not terribly keen on me showing them.
