Holy Saturday morning

dawned foggy. This view is from the lakeshore at Tyven, where you can clearly see how low the water is this spring. Normally these rocks are under water as well as the narrow streak of sandy beach there.

In Finnish this Saturday is called lankalauantai - with a multitude of vowels. The name stands for 'thread Saturday'; originating from a misunderstanding. We Finns have always had some problems with the Swedes - here the name was a mistranslation from the Swedish word Lång lördag, which stood for Good Friday. Thus the Finnish name is a double misunderstanding...

In the old days it was a good omen for the whole year if on Easter morning the sky was clear - hopefully this fog does not forebode anything bad for the year, then.
