The Legend of La Llorona and The Headless Horseman
Finally, finally back in Santa Fe, New Mexico late last night after a 20 hour journey from New Zealand. So very good to be home again in my beloved Santa Fe, sad though it was to leave my loved ones.
We went for a drive this afternoon around some of the very old parts of the city, and here on a hill was this wee church. Jerry tells me that The Headless Horseman, who stole La Llarona's children is chased round and round the church by La Llarona - or so go the tales from his childhood.
La Llarona is a very well known 'ghost' around these parts who roams the streets looking for her lost children. I had never come across this particular section of the legend before though.
