Easter Sunday Sunrise Service

At 0430 this morning the alarm went off and it was the start of an energetic day!

At 0600 this morning 21 adults, 3 children and a dog called Sheba, arrived at our picnic table on top of Hartshill Hayes for our annual Sunrise Service on Easter Morning. The sun rising today was 0558, but because of the low cloud the sun rose without us seeing it.

However, we did have a period of 6/7 minutes of silence as we gazed out across the A5 valley, the Oil Seed Rape fields of yellow while listening to a cacophony of bird song.

I have been coming up here for the last 8 years, but this an event that has been going on for a number of years. Last year we had 6 inches of snow and the wind was a lazy and cold as it went right through you, rather than going around you.

We always celebrate Holy Communion and the service lasts about 30 minutes. By the end we are all looking forward to breakfast held at the Society of Friends, where hot drinks and boiled eggs are served.
