Sunday: Meat Fest
We left Budapest this morning to drove to Lake Heviz, about half way between here and Zagreb. It is, apparently, Europe's largest thermal lake and the world's second largest, measuring a constant 38 degrees.
We went down to the lake this afternoon to see what it had to offer. Well, it was all a bit odd. Needless to say, you have to pay entrance fees etc which we duly did. We then swam in the lake for a while before heading into the main complex where the swimming equated to being in an underground bunker full of metal pylons etc. I felt like James Bond, trying to clamp a limpet mine on to an arch enemy except that James Bond probably didn't do it with a flotation device around him (like the one I had - the lake being 38m deep and me not being a strong swimmer....)
Heviz is not terribly photogenic as the town had grown up so oddly around the lake but we did stumble across some street stalls where we had an excellent experience which included pork belly and fine Hungarian wine.
