Mr. Hemmings' Machete
We bought a small axe yesterday to deal with the ugly fir trees at the bottom of the garden and Tom and I spent a sporadic portion of this afternoon trying to demonstrate our machismo accordingly. After the obligatory greeting of "Put your back into it...!", a neighbour fetched me this ancient but evil looking weapon to try instead. Apparently it's a machete (pronounced 'match-ettie' in these parts) - presumably he used to use it for harvesting the sugar cane that grows so freely around Mapperley...!? Anyway, it's as sharp as sin and made a far better job of things. This picture doesn't really do the creature justice but, frankly, I just wanted to use the title anyway...!
