Birthday Ride

Spent the day at the Columbia River Gorge, breakfast at Hood River, stop in the Dalles, then to Maryhill museum on Washington side, where we've not been in many , many years, and the winery nearby. Maryhill was built by Sam Hill for his daughter, but she never even visited there. It sat empty and unfinisned , until it was made into a museum. Besides art, there is an extensive collection of Native American artifacts and an intriquing collection of chess sets from all around the world. Sam Hill was the man responsible for buiding roads in the Columbia River Gorge initially. The wildflowers are now in bloom, this is from the Dallas Mountain Road.
