Masts on fire
Another Sunday Sunrise. A couple of days ago, I did not expect that the rising sun would have been visible in any way this morning. Northern New Zealand was being battered by the remnants of a tropical cyclone on Wednesday night, into Thursday morning. Trees down. Electricity cuts as the lines were brought down. Gales. Thunderstorms. Rain, rain and more rain.
And the prediction for the weekend was more of the same. As it has turned out, the bad weather scooted southwards and visited far more devastation on the already battered South Islanders, and after a variable Friday, we have had mostly fine and relatively calm weather. Which included an almost cloudless sky this morning, except for the eastern sky. And that created a dramatic sunrise.

I chose an angle that put the break in the clouds behind the tops of the masts, while capturing the reflected colour in the pools left behind by the retreating tide. The sun is just beginning to emerge from behind the cloud bank creating the start of what ended up as a broad band of reflected light across the water of the bay.
In acknowledgement of having sort of plagiarised the title for this blip, I found this reminder of my youth
