Labyrinth

I attended a workshop today, learning from the woman who made this 40-foot-square cloth labyrinth how to build one myself. It was interesting to hear how she created this, the measurement and patience involved in putting it together.

I used to love walking the labyrinth when I lived in Toronto, and I was fortunate to have a chance to visit Chartres a few years ago. I am fascinated how the labyrinth was used to symbolize pilgrimage for the medieval Christians; I find the image of the journey really resonates with me.

I would love to build a labyrinth (a smaller one) outdoors, in a place where it could be accessible to everyone. It would be a wonderful and challenging project!
