Scarbados
Today has been AMAZING!!
I always have an ace time when I'm with Mr A, but today has been just fab!
We set off for Scarborough just before lunch; with the decision to go on the bike (after seeing the traffic jams on AA road watch) being a good one.
The weather was a bit grim and very scary riding along the motorway across Saddleworth Moor as it was really windy.
However, once we got into Scarborough we had blue skies and sunshine. I've been before, though it was out of season so much quieter and much less 'chavtastic' than it was today.
Mr A hadn't been before and he was a bit disappointed I think that it was so chavvy!
The title of this blip comes from a tshirt I saw in a souvenir shop which said 'keep calm and visit Scarbados'!
We had fish and chips, then a walk round the town centre before catching the tramway back down to the promenade.
We decided to take the longer way home, via the A59 rather than the motorway; by this time the weather was glorious and we wanted to make the most of our day out.
Without intention, as we were leaving Scarborough we ended up tagging onto another group of bikers (they were charmingly named 'satans slaves) who commanded the road like I've never seen! It's true about safety in numbers as the majority of cars pulled in to let them (and us) pass!
The ride home was great; stunning scenery and as it wasn't motorway, Mr A & I could hear each other clearly enough to chat away merrily via our Bluetooth helmets.
300 miles later, we arrived back home; aching and cold, but happy. A nice hot shower, pjs and a takeaway curry rounded off the day nicely.
We will sleep tonight, that's for sure!
