The Power of Thought
I can't believe how lucky we have been with this weather so far this Easter. So up bright and early to take a walk around Musselbrogh. We started with a visit to the mouth of the River Esk, before making our way along the seawall to the bird reserve area where there are hides overlooking the scrapes then along through the grassland and woodland scrub area via the *Ash Lagoons, to return to our starting point.
On one of the new paths I spotted this guy with his dogs gazing out to sea deep in thought. Maybe reflecting on how the place has changed for the better.
*The Ash Lagoons are a legacy from the Cockenzie power station which is now closed but was a coal-fired power plant and the surrounding landscape has been formed by the discarded ash.
The station has dominated the local coastline with its distinctive twin chimneys, since it opened in 1967.
The main station is currently being dismantled by Brown and Mason Ltd, a UK-based demolition company. There are plans to replace the station with a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station.
