Oh my god….
For many years someone - I once saw an elderly Asian gentleman laying out the fruit - has been leaving a gift or offering in one of the mooring rings on the side of the Tyne in Newcastle.
I know the Ganges is important to the Hindu religion and the Romans worshipped Neptune as their River God when Pons Aelius (their bridge over the Tyne) was at the heart of communications in their northern Empire.
What this ritual today signifies or for whom it is intended I have no idea but I find it a pleasing gesture.
