Pisa Cathedral

Always delight to walk through a familiar folk art museum and come upon a treasure new to me...

Pisa Cathedral was created by Aldobrando ("Aldo") Piacenza in Highland, Illinois, 1950-1965. Piacenza was born in Italy and immigrated to America as a teenager. As he aged, he increasingly turned to artwork. He covered the exterior of his house with painted murals. Using scrap lumber and found objects, he filled the yard with models of buildings masquerading as birdhouses.
