Today started with the saddest news that our dear friend Sam had passed away last night. He had suffered cancer for too long and as always, his wife Jean and girls Susie and Sarah, were with him.

Sam was the gentlest of gentlemen, the best of the best, he only ever did good turns. We became friends over 20 years ago when he was the Employment Lawyer who I often sought advise from. He was a superb lawyer and when he took cases to tribunal he always told you why you might lose but we never did.

I know Jean looks in on blip every day, our hearts and thoughts are with you all.
