'Simnel Cake'...........!

Well at last......after several years of threatening......it's made......!!!
The traditional cake for Easter.....
And believe it or not.....despite all my years baking .....I have never made or even tasted on of these cakes......so I'm really looking forward to the finished product.....
This only got made with S's help today.......she made the marzipan....
I just can't achieve this...whereas she makes it perfectly....beautifully moist but yet easily pliable and just right to work with....
And what makes this cake different from the ordinary fruit cake is.....that there is a layer of the marzipan baked in the centre of the cake!!
This is far from finished....it's just been doused with whiskey.....
and tomorrow we must coat it in marzipan......make the 11 Apostles!!
and bake it to a lovely golden brown in a hot oven....
IF it turns out well ....I may just Blip the finished cake.....
