The weird and wonderful No 2
(I think this shall now be the title of what I had previously called my "Cycling paraphernalia" items). Isn't this fabulous?? What I would have done to have something like this when I was a childminder! This one is for my fellow childminders in Ashtead and comes under the 'wonderful' heading, methinks.
The vehicle you see in the photo above, is parked at our school at home time. It belongs to a local nursery that offers after school care and it transports the children from the school to the nursery. The adult in charge stands at the back, on the small platform and steers. The cover can be on or off, depending on the weather. The children hop in and sit on seats in the 'buggy/cart' (call it what you will) and, hey, everyone's a winner. Quick and easy transport home!!
Anyone who frequently deals with a largish number of children and who spends ages getting them in and out of cars and changing the configuration of car seats several times a day, depending on the children in your care - just to make a very short journey home - will appreciate this creation, I'm sure. When I saw it for the first time I was amazed but the more time I spend here, the less surprised I am by what I see moving along the cycle path. (And that's it, I suppose - the wonderfully wide, dedicated and mostly segregated cycle paths enable the use of something like this. Life and transporting yourself over here, is not just about the car. It's equal opportunity for the cyclist!)
