Window Triptych
I had intended to take a blip of the Millennium Stadium overhanging the Taff with some nice puffy clouds. Not only was there no clouds due to a dull haze but the exact spot I wanted on the bridge was out of bounds to pedestrians with workman doing something or other.
Well, I had half an hour to walk around the city centre without 'her indoors'. I took a pile of presentable blips but chose the shoe shop window from The Arcade off St Mary Street in preference to all the landmarks. I just loved the colours, shapes and reflections plus the added bonus it made a natural triptych.
For those that don't know, a Triptch is....
from the Greek ("three-fold"), from tri, i.e. "three" and ptysso, i.e. "to fold"
is a work of art (usually a panel painting) that is divided into three sections, or three carved panels which are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open.
It is therefore a type of polyptych, the term for all multi-panel works. The middle panel is typically the largest and it is flanked by two smaller related works, although there are triptychs of equal-sized panels. The highest price ever paid for an artwork at auction was $142.4 million for a 1969 triptych, "Three Studies of Lucian Freud", by Francis Bacon.
Mmm.....wonder how much mine's worth? :)
