Swamphen
Led the mid-week outing of our bird club to Marievale this morning.
A massive storm passed over the sanctuary before our arrival, so it was very wet with water everywhere, and an icy wind blowing. this did not auger well for the outing. However, after some further intermittent rain the wind dropped mid-morning and clouds partially cleared.
A final tally of 56 species for the morning not being too shabby for this time of the year.
This pic is of an African Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio madagascariensis).
