What a Difference

What a difference a month makes. It's barely believable that our traveling waffle adventure took place only one month ago, and last Friday we said goodbye to our friend. His beloved wife, seen here with my beloved Contraptioneer, is a constant source of joy in my life. She is full of encouragement, and has mastered the art (as her husband had) of receiving love and nurturing those who shared it.

While riding along in the backseat of the car with her, she said something to me that makes me ponder. She said, "My friends and I, we all volunteered somewhere". I remember knowing that was a strong value at one time. I hope it remains, or becomes again, a strong value in our time. Whole groups of friends, all volunteering somewhere. "You're crazy," someone told her, "you do this for nothing...that's crazy!" but she didn't let it bother her, she just kept doing it.

We're all doing well, but we have met the quota, so I am praying everyone stays healthy now. Within the past week, we have lost this dear friend's husband, a very dear friend from our church, my former boss (also a special friend) and today, my cousin's wife's dad. Time to stop already! We'd like the keep the rest our lovely people alive if that's alright.
