"Until Christmas Day"
Bones!
A Family Favorite.
While the ribs cooked in the "george foreman roaster" we played domino's.
This time I won 2 sets of 4 games:-)
Mom beat me the first go-around last week.
Tonight she told me about Mr. Cliff teaching her and her twin sister how to play the game. He beat them at first but once they got the hang of the game he would end up the loser sometimes.
She talked about how he would play until late in the night in summer, then walk back to his land once all the fun was over.
Grandma had lost Grandpa sometime after their last child was born, to pneumonia. They'd had 12 pregnancies and 13 births.
Lost one as a baby and another after he came to California to make a living. He died saving children from harm.
We share the same birthday.
I'm told he was a quiet man with a kind heart.
Others have passed on since Sun Rims passing but they had lived on up into their early years of living, or into their old age of passing.
Domino's have always been played during parties, picnics, fish fry's or just to pass the time during any season.
Tonight was another good reason for sharing old times and eating BBQ with no worries about tomorrow.
I'll have to ask Mom what she remembers about Grandpa. She has a few stories
about him and holding his hand when she was a child but not many.
Mr. Cliff sounds like a grand man and he was kind to the children after Grandpa's death.
I can still recall the sadness that came when Mr. Cliff passed .
When the news arrived the 5 sisters in the Bay Area sat together and remembered him.
He'd been pinned under his truck while working on it.
When Grandma went over for a visit she found him dead.
