On Guard

Crossing the river Cam into St John's College, this carved stone bird stands on top of the archway leading to Kitchen Court. This area was formerly within the walls of the old Kitchen Lane and is now used as an outdoor dining area. Quite a lot of people there enjoying lunch in the sunshine.
