Poppies and Vines

We drove out through Kenwood this afternoon and were rewarded with…POPPIES! Poppies growing in huge clumps beside the road, in vacant fields, front yards and between the rows of vines which are just leafing out in the vineyards. This used to be where the mustard bloomed this time of year, but apparently the mustard is being replaced by poppies this year, in Kenwood anyway. It's quite spectacular, and inspires us to throw handfuls of poppy seeds in our field. We might be well rewarded for not much effort.

It was misty and cool when I got up this morning--perfect walking weather for Ozzie. By the time we got home, the sun was coming out. This evening it is still the perfect temperature to sit outside on the porch and have a glass of wine….
