Ice Blue

This is the Blue Lagoon.

What a day! This was first on the agenda. It really was fantastic. So relaxing. Snowed several times when we were in which just added something special for me.

Bit of history.
In 1976 a pool formed at the site from the waste water of the geothermal power plant that had just been built there. In 1981 people started bathing in it after the discovery of its healing powers for psoriasis. In 1992 the Blue Lagoon company was established and the bathing facility was opened for the public.

Then a FaceTime call to the kids which was just lovely. And then into one of the best record stores I've ever been in. It's called Lucky Records and it's a store, hang out and venue. Very nice indeed. And sustained for over 10 years by a population of 340,000 (Iceland's entire pop, Nae just Reykjavik)

Then beer in Lebowskibar. The barman intimated it was 2 for 1 happy hour..... Soooo a White Russian was immediately ordered too. :-)

Now maybe a few drinks in town if we walk through the snow that seems to be happening now. Changes every 5 mins anyway!

More tomorrow as we are off into the wilds. The proper wilds hopefully. Can't wait for that!
