Watts Mortuary Chapel
The chapel is a stunning fusion of Art Nouveau, Celtic and Romanesque designed and built by Mary Watts. It surely is one of the most beautiful buildings to be found in the village of Compton, in Surrey.
Mary Watts led a team of locals from the village and instructed them how to make bricks and tiles from the local clay. What a masterpiece, the exterior was finished in 1898, then work on the interior took place. Mary took the most talented of her craftsmen and together they created the stunning interior, finally completing it in 1904.
One of the most difficult choices had to be made, which exquisite angel will be published today. Definitely a return trip for photographs of the exterior will be make, very soon!
