Back In Time

I finally did something touristy today.

I went and visited Sovereign Hill which is Ballarat's main attraction as it is significant to the towns history. Back in 1886 there was a Gold Rush as people started to find and mine a lot of gold from under the city.

Sovereign Hill has multi shops and cafes showing how the town would have been like back then. They also have mines that can be toured as well as the opportunity to pan for your own gold.

Opposite the entrance to Sovereign Hill is the Gold Museum, which has on display lots of different gold ingots and tells the story of how mining and smelting of gold came about.
