Desperately seeking

How can a day that starts so right go so wrong?

Took most of the day off work to take The Mother to the funeral of her best school friend. I thought it would be so nice to drive along the A66 taking photos, especially of Bassenthwaite as a sequel to Saturday's Ullswater.

I stopped in a lay-by and reached into the back of the car! Arrrrgh! No camera! It had been lifted out with some bags! I NEARLY CRIED!

Oh, well, everyone knows I don't have an expensive camera with a capital C and now they also know I don't have an expensive mobile with a lower case i. Still, at least I got this picture!

So, we stopped at the Pheasant Inn for the most lovely lunch in beautiful, traditional surroundings. Then as we were leaving and I was still taking photos, Mother said "Can we get to the church for 1.45?" WHAT!!!!! I had got the timing confused with yesterday's hospital appointment! NOW I DID CRY!

I spoilt a special day for her by not paying attention. We went straight to the Crematorium which was OK but not quite the same.

Mother said thanks for giving her a great day, but I feel bad! But a lot to do and an early night is hoped for!
