Sheerness

I didn't know where Sheerness is until tonight. Blipping can be educational, on top of all the rest.

It's where this ship last docked. She's on her way to Kirkcaldy. Well, she has arrived really, but hasn't docked yet.

She's the Swift, a 795 ton British registered general cargo vessel built in 1989. I'd bet my last £5 on the cargo being grain, destined for the flour mill at Kirkcaldy Harbour. The only other commodity landed there is fish - lobster, crab & scallops. Can't imagine she's got a hold full of that.

That's Leith, Edinburgh and the Pentland Hills in the background.

Looks all sunny and pleasant in the evening sun, but it was very windy and freezing. Not easy to take a steady shot.

My information about ships I've Blipped comes from this website.

Nearly forgot - Sheerness is on the north coast of Kent.
