Reading Matter

I'm a bit late coming to this party. It seems that everyone knew about these books and TV series long before I did.

My son bought the complete boxed set of all nine volumes in the middle of last year and I had intended to take Book 1 into hospital with me last September. Unfortunately, he had already lent it to his girlfriend who, by the time I wanted the book, was his ex-girlfriend and he never did manage to get the book back. However, he has borrowed another copy, this one in fact, from a friend and I am slowly ploughing my way through it.

I've tried reading Lord of the Rings and Terry Pratchett but not been able to get on with them. Fantasy isn't really my thing. So it's come as a bit of a surprise to find that I'm really enjoying this. The thing is, I much prefer to read books than to watch TV adaptations so I'm having to avoid reading TV reviews and interviews with the actors which might contain 'spoilers'. It's quite a challenge!
