"Grandpa and me"

When i was a wee lad.. growing up in the highlands of Scotland.. i was rarely home during the warmer months.. usually off fishing with a bamboo cane'n line..or reparing a rusty bike me & my brother Hamish had pulled out of the dump.. or chopping wood & tying into little bundles to sell for pocket money... to go to the 'flicks' on Saturday...
But in the autumn.. it was over the walls to nick apples or pears or plums.. Hamish would hold the bike against the wall & keep a lookout.. & i was over the top in a flash.. returning shortly with bulging pockets & a bumpy jumper... mostly it was sour or hard'n unripe.. occasionally a sweet ripe one was our trophy. One sunday on our regular trip to visit Grandad.. he said " a wee bird saw you climbing over Mrs Munro's wall last week"... we were amazed..we'd been rumbled... by a wee bird!.. the rest of that autumn i was never sure if Grandad really did have a wee bird spy... Today i asked these two if i could take their picture.. the feeling & warmth i got from the boys Grandad took me back all these years. I have been feeling pretty low lately.. but in taking this picture and the exchange with them brings such nourishment... this blip-thing is quite something... i hope you sometimes find that too.
