Orange Poppy

I rarely see orange shirley poppies.  This is a new one that opened today.  The bud next to it looks promising.  That should open tomorrow.

They look good in big, especially the bud.


Yesterday's storm did a lot of damage to crops.  In some places the hailstones were 2.5 to 3 cms, which were very destructive.  They were a lot smaller here and did no worse than shred a few lettuce leaves.

This morning there was fresh snow on the mountains, right down to the foothills.  I was hoping to photograph it, but the clouds have hung around the tops and the snow on the lower slopes has burned off.  It has been very cool even though the sun has shone and there is little wind.  It certainly doesn't feel like summer.
