Catch me if you can
You would think having a husband who ran 5 marathons last year would inspire me to run myself. He did. However knowing how fit he is meant I found it easy to make the excuses and not keep it up.
Then me and my girls signed up for pretty muddy for cancer research- again you would think this would inspire me to start running.nope!
I then got a text yesterday from my best friend saying she was running 5km. This alarmed me to be honest. She is by no means lazy or overweight in any way but by her own admission she was extremely unfit.
Well, after receiving her message saying she had finished the race and was looking at doing more I really began to panic! That's it- let's dust off those running shoes...again.
Meeting up with her this morning i had to admit I wasn't really looking forward to it especially knowing she had ran 5km the previous day, however we set off. Canalside was our track of choice and on a beautiful sunny morning too.
Half a mile completed I felt quite good! Plus we had chatted whilst running which is always something I had avoided as a) I have always ran alone - chatting wasn't an option unless you wanted to be known as 'the crazy running lady who talks to herself', and b) the use of energy!
So we did another half mile. This one I didn't feel too good at the end but hey I had ran a mile! A big milestone (excuse the pun)in my book!
Next stop London!!
