Where the bee sucks...
... it is accompanied by a miscellany of flies and hover-flies. A group of a dozen or so honey bees were clearly working in concert this morning, moving together from tree to tree.
This bee looks as if it is sun-bathing; it is already well laden with pollen.
Here the bee is on blossom of a pear tree: "Beth", it was supposedly a self-fertile variety, but the Royal Horticultural Society does not agree!
I don't possess a macro lens, so instead use a moderate telephoto zoom, focal length 55-200mm, equivalent to approx 80-280mm, which can focus at a minimum of a metre distance. At the moment the bees are timid and wouldn't want me to be any closer.
