What a difference a day makes

Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

This is the confluence of the Moose River, which is just beginning to break up, and the Kenai River, which is bigger and faster, so the ice has already cleared.
The sky becomes light around 6 a.m. and it's mostly dark by 10:30 p.m. The temperature at 6 a.m. is 6 F. and by 10 a.m. it's up to 35 F. (if the sun is shining) When it is cloudy and overcast (common) it's about 30-35 all day.
