Downing Mountain
This is downing mountain's north slope that burst into flames hundreds of feet high last summer, threatening the west side of Hamilton. The sky filled with smoke-jumpers and retardant-dropping planes and helicopters the next morning, but it was a week before the fire was contained. Scary time. I never have guests in August because we've had horrendous fires then and the valley fills with smoke. This is the new normal for this changing weather pattern...Fire Season.
Now the mountain sleeps peacefully under clear skies. And the monster sleeps till August.
