Aurora United Church

Yesterday I heard and saw helicopters that were filming the fire at the church. I didn't see any smoke as the winds were carrying the smoke to the south and I was west of the church. They diverted traffic on Yonge St and evacuated nearby homes and businesses to be on the safe side. The church has lost the roof, some walls and many beautiful stained glass windows. The church was built in 1878 and designed by Henry Langley. The first church on this site was built in 1818 and was a log structure. I hope the can salvage as much as possible and rebuild!
