Darkest before the dawn

Oh, please do not misunderstand me; I believe it to be a beautiful and wonderful place, and I fully understand your desire to see the sun. One need only look around to see why!

But surely that is the point?

While your holiday would give you sunshine in abundance, were you to go to a land where the seasons are reversed, you would be making a grave mistake. To my mind, you would be missing the most auspicious event of the year.

And what is that, you ask? Why, summer itself, reborn in the very heart of winter.

After all, how can you fully appreciate the colours of the dawn, without the darkness that precedes it?
