East Grinstead High Street (1 in a series)
East Grinstead has a history dating back to the Domesday Book and was granted a Royal Charter to hold a weekly market in 1247. The current buildings in the High Street date back to the 14thC. This is one of my favourites.
'The Menders' has been here for (at least) 20 years. The proprietor will bring back a favourite pair of shoes back into (serviceable) life; probably at a greater cost that a new pair but heck, if they fit and are comfortable why change.
For the ladies he'll repair any handbag and give it a new lease of life. A sort of upmarket Timpsons.
