What struck my fancy

Carved stone figure

I know I know it's someone else's art and what have I brought to the table? This is in one of the Abbott's rooms at Castle Acre Priory, built circa 1062 and abolished and ruined in 1537 by Henry VIII. The figure is scarcely recognisable as it stands, but better contrast, colour enhancement, and some other ploys have gone some way to turning back the clock a few centuries: that's what I have contributed.

But sorry, I do not know who is portrayed, but he (I assume) was adorned in fine dress and is holding something special, at the time they were affiliated to Rome but I do not see a mitre or cardinal's cap, just splendid locks of hair.

Of course there is more to see LARGE
