TAMATOES/TOMATOES

We've grown a lot of different old varieties of Tomatoes this season,
some successful others not so !! Its easy to see why growers seek better,bigger,& more colourful varieties. We acquired various old seeds from a very reliable source. No problems with growing them - but I wonder why we would bother - smaller crops, smaller fruit and often less tasty !! Maybe this is the seeding for genetic modification ?? I like the the big 'beafsteak' ones myself !! I noticed on a cooking programme the other day how Greeks also love the big fleshy varieties!
