Loan Burn, Penicuik

We went to Penicuik to see if it could be a suitable place for urban orienteering. I have to say that most of it is too regular, and there would be a lot of what I call dead running, without much in the way of route choice. However, there is a small area in the north east that looks brilliant for sprint orienteering. The houses have loads of ways through, pends and stairs and no regular pattern to direction. We'll see. There is also an area of woodland, with the Loan Burn running through it, to the north to add variety. This is where the blip was taken, and shows what the small burn looks like in the spring, with all the new growth.
