You've gotta get a hat...

Finally stitched together my translation and the part done by my friend and sent it off, having sent a partial version last night. Probably too late to be of any use to the client today – they’re six hours ahead of us - but at least it has gone.

Time for a quick cuppa before going out to do a quick recording. Should have done it at home but couldn’t be fished to set up the equipment. Would have been quicker if I had, as the studio couldn't get rid of background noise and we only nailed it on the 14th take.

Still, at least it got me out of the house. Nearly dark by the time we'd finished, so no Copacabana beach shots, but I enjoyed the busy-ness of the streets and all the different activities. People scurrying home or waiting for buses, others nursing their beers or cachaça outside greasy spoons. Bars and coffee bars, vendors selling bananas, hats and all sorts, men sitting round a box by the newsstand, playing draughts. A woman having a loud fight with two men on a motorbike (was she drunk – drugged – mad with jealousy? Or had they nearly run her over)? All offering opportunities for a desperation blip with the mobile.
