Hot Maple Taffy in the snow
On a snowshoe trip in the Canadian Rockies (Kootenay National Park) the guide kindly made us "hot maply taffy". Wonderful! She boiled up maple syrup until it was just the right consistency, then poured streaks of it onto clean fresh snow. It then had to be rolled up onto a spatula before it cooled too much. It made a great-tasting lolly and gave us the energy to finish the walk!
