Majestic
Ye gods! it doth amaze me
A man of such a feeble temper should
So get the start of the majestic world
And bear the palm alone. Julius Caesar Act 1 Scene 2
Tree
The tree stands all alone
Its height and girth majestic.
Sturdy strong and wind-blown
It’s presence somehow mystic.
Its origins cannot be known
They’re too far in the past.
Seed from distant forest blown?
From fur of foxes cast?
Sweet rains and soil nurtured
Tended, cared and loved
Leaves and branches treasured
By winds and gales unmoved.
Home to birds and wildlife
Gazing from their apogee
May it last a lifetime
In glorious majesty
This poem a day lark is very hard. I don’t think my poor brain has enough words in it for 20 more of them (it pleased me that I managed to get in a word from DDW's March challenge "apogee"!!). Give me a page of maths any day!!
