Extraordinary Men
Having just watched the Antiques Roadshow commemorating the 100 years of the start of the First World War and listening to all the personal stories of those courageous men and woman, it brought to mind my Great Uncle Boy. I have blipped his engines that he built in the past and wanted to celebrate him tonight.
He is the gentleman with the pipe and airforce uniform. Sister Flowerpower and I were remembering him this evening and she said how much she loved his eyes. They were always filled with warmth and humour. He had a fascinating life which he never discussed; living out in Malaysia, flying planes and surviving a Japanese prisoner of war camp. All through his life he never called me by my actual name. To him I was always 'Rebecca.' He was a remarkable man.
The gentleman in the smaller picture is Grandfather Flowerpower who I never met. He built the car himself and from what I've been told he too was quite extraordinary.
