Walk on-2009
today was the mega even that the Aashayein Foundation has been grearing up for, for months now...and all their hard work and sleepless nights finally paid off...the event was pretty successful with quite a number of people from the city not only came down to the venue on a Sunday morning to join hands for a cause but also expressed their interest in joining AF and help in whatever manner they can...the primary goal of the event was to raise funds for the AF's mission towards "right to quality education to every child"...but there are other things to it...there was a lot of media coverage today, lot of publicity done in the city, corporate houses and educational institutes in the past few weeks...because of all this, more people know about an organization called AF and what it's doing...many of them enquired with the volunteers on how they can help make a difference...there was one particular guest who was on a discussion panel in a leading news channel last night where political fraternity were debating and discussing splitting up of Andhra Pradesh (the state where Hyderabad lies in)...he said "the contrast is amazing - there I was sitting with politicians who were busy splitting up the state and here are you youngsters who are working tirelessly towards uniting people"...there were similar comments from almost everyone who came and attended the walk...some people even floated some good ideas to AF - kind of things that happen when people come together and think constructively...things like these measure the actual success of any initiative...
finally, a word should be put down for all the AF volunteers who worked round the clock for the past few weeks to ensure that the even goes through without any glitches...there were challenges, demanding work pressure, political disturbance in the city but the energy and enthusiasm of these handful young people sailed through everything...kudos!
