Eider Ducks

A day out in the camping car to meet up with a family from Essex who are renting a cottage on the south of Mull. We haven't met before although have exchanged homes and emails over the last 12 months.

The rendezvous was at Loch Buie, a beautiful place although wild, wet and cold today. We had sandwiches, flap jack and talked non stop for three hours. It was GREAT to get out and the good thing about the big van was the loo and tea making facilities although not necessarily in that order. And it can seat 5 adults and a child albeit uncomfortably.

From the internet:
Eider ducks
Eiders are bulky ducks with a large wedge-shaped bill. In fact, it is their bill and their flattened head that make them easy to identify. Males are unmistakeable with their black-white plumage and characteristic 'ah-hoo' call. Downy feathers from eiders are the best in the world. Females line their nests with this material. In Iceland, people gather the feathers for making comforters and pillows.
